Fairy Tales

By Holly Class, in Year 3 - Monday, 9 January 2023

Year 3 are going to be reading 'Who's afraid of the big bad book' by Lauren Child. To prepare ourselves we read several traditional fairy tales and discused the different versions we knew of. Then, we acted out the different stories and performed them to the class. We were very impressed with how many we knew so well!

Home Learning Task

By Year 3, in Year 3 - Monday, 9 January 2023

Home Learning Task

The Midnight Fair.

Welcome back year 3! Your first home learning task of the year is to get outside…

We are going to be reading a book that is set in the woodlands and we are going to be learning about the animals that live there. On your walk to school, walk with your family or looking at the woods out of your window, what can you see?

We would like you to explore a woodland no matter how big or small and record what you find there.

You might like to write a report or a poem. You might draw and label what you see or make a model of the woodlands.

If you decide to take pictures please email them to erin.toll@fairlands.herts.sch.uk so your class can see them.

Please send any homework into school before Thursday 26th January. We look forward to learning about what you discover in the woods!

Maths Home Learning

By Kim Ferguson, in Year 3 - Monday, 12 December 2022

In our maths lessons last week we have been looking at interpreting data using bar graphs. Attached are 3 different worksheets for you to complete. Choose either apprentice (1 star), practitioner (2 stars) or experts (3 stars). Please look carefully at the answers to check to see if you have completed them correctly. For an extra challenge why don't you try to make your own bar graph on a topic of your choice.

Commas In a List

By Kim Ferguson, in Year 3 - Monday, 12 December 2022

Please find attached PDF for using commas correctly in a list for todays English Home Learning Task

Snow Day Home Learning

By Kim Ferguson, in Year 3 - Monday, 12 December 2022

Unfortunately, school is closed today due to the snow but it is still really important to keep up with your learning. Attached to this post you will see a power point presentation explaining how to use commas correctly when writing a list. Once you have read the presentation have a go at writing a list; maybe a letter to Santa asking him what you would like for Christmas or a list of your favourite toys you like to play with. You can write a list about anything you like as long as you use commas correctly. As well as this remember to use today to catch up on your reading and log on to TT Rock stars. Your teachers will log on to see if you have managed to beat your previous scores!

Watercolour creations

By Holly class, in Year 3 - Wednesday, 23 November 2022

This afternoon, we used watercolours to create our own backgrounds inspired by the Hindu creation story. Next, we shall be adding the characters and scenery to our backgrounds. We had to choose 2 or 3 colours that we could blend to make our backgrounds look like the sky, sea or land.
