Today, Fairlands School joined the National Literacy Trust and the British Council in an exciting attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for having the most number of people reading online in 12 hours. Year 6 got to hear from Frank Cottrell-Boyce and his experiences as an author then we were given a dedicated reading time, which will contribute to the record attempt. We can’t wait to find out if we are going to succeed. Everyone was very excited to take part. 17 Likes

This week in Science Year 4 have investigated how switches work in electrical circuits. They designed and tested their own switches to see how they can open and close a circuit. They tested their different ideas, observed what happened to the bulbs and they thought about how they could improve their switches. 4 Likes

In our Phonics lesson today, we recapped the sounds we had learnt by matching the pictures to the graphemes. Then our challenge was to write the CVC word cat! Well done Reception! 5 Likes
Year 2 children have been busy developing their writing skills through the story Frog and the Stranger. They have been working hard to write a sequence of sentences, carefully ordering their ideas to retell events from the story. 7 Likes
Photos from Fairlands Primary School's postYear 6 have been learning about how computers communicate by sending data over in small packets. The children had to write messages and send them across our ‘routers’ for them to arrive at their given destination. They then had to work as a team to generate a given image by reading the data that they had been given. Lots of good teamwork Walnut class. 2 Likes
