There’s no business like SNOW business!

By Year 6, in Year 6 - Thursday, 15 December 2022

On Tuesday afternoon, all children went out to enjoy the beautiful snowfall from Sunday night - we couldn't believe how much there was! We had so much fun having snowball fights, playing with children from other year groups and most importantly: throwing snowballs at our teachers! What a fantastic way to get us in the festive spirit!

Phenomenal Projects!

By Willow Class , in Year 6 - Thursday, 1 December 2022

This half term, our homework task was to create a project that linked to our topic: natural disasters. The children could be as creative as they liked and produce anything from a poster to a model. Here are some of the fantastic pieces that they have turned in - the teachers are so impressed with the hard work and dedication shown!

Top Tip 9: Leave for school 5 minutes earlier

By Miss Hodgson, Miss Brooker and Mr Tweeddell , in Year 6 - Monday, 28 November 2022

Good morning wonderful Year 6 and happy Monday!

We are coming to you this morning with our ninth top tip to support our focus: Every Day Counts! Last week, we suggested that you wake up 5 minutes earlier than usual. If you have managed this, why not leave for school 5 minutes earlier than usual as well? We all know how important it is to be punctual and get to school on time. This will ensure that you are at school for 8:40am, ready to complete your morning work.

Why not give it a go this week?

A distracting downpour!

By Year 6, in Year 6 - Wednesday, 23 November 2022

It was quite difficult not to get distracted during our Maths lesson this morning when the heavens opened and we experienced very heavy rain right outside our classrooms. As our topic this half term is natural disasters, we were intrigued by the amount of rain and the effect it might have on our playground. We were shocked to discover that there was rain pouring down the steps - it was like a waterfall! After going out to have a look, we discussed why this had happened. It was mentioned by the children that the playground did not absorb the water and this was the cause of the flooding outside our classrooms.

Top Tip 8: Wake up 5 minutes earlier

By Miss Hodgson, Miss Brooker and Mr Tweeddell , in Year 6 - Monday, 21 November 2022

Good morning wonderful Year 6 and happy Monday!

We are coming to you this morning with our eighth top tip to support our focus: Every Day Counts! We know that it can be difficult to get up in the mornings, especially as the days get colder! Our suggestion is that you wake up just 5 minutes earlier than you normally would and use this time to do something calming. You could do some mindfulness breathing or some stretches. Activities like these will help wake up the body and boost your mood, getting you ready for a good day!

Fraction Fun!

By Year 6, in Year 6 - Wednesday, 16 November 2022

During our maths lessons over the past few weeks, we have been learning all about fractions. We have been using the highest common factor to simplify and using our times table knowledge to find the lowest common multiple to convert fractions so they have a common denominators. In todays lesson, we put that knowledge to the test to solve a range of problems. Our favourite mind melter involved donuts! How can you share a donut into eight equal pieces  using only three cuts? We borrowed a healthier alternative (bagels) to investigate. It was tricky but we got there. Can you solve this problem?

NSPCC: Speak out, stay safe!

By Year 6, in Year 6 - Wednesday, 16 November 2022

Yesterday, Year 6 had their NSPCC workshop which was all about speaking out and staying safe. The children had conversations based around things they felt were okay or not okay and then justified their thoughts. They were incredibly sensible and mature during these conversations and all teachers were very impressed! They were taught all about how Childline can support children anytime of day, anytime of year and they even learnt a clever way to remember their number - the children have demonstrated this in the image above!

Top Tip 7: Making appointments

By Miss Hodgson, Miss Brooker and Mr Tweeddell , in Year 6 - Monday, 14 November 2022

Good morning wonderful Year 6 and happy Monday!

We are coming to you this morning with our seventh top tip to support our focus: Every Day Counts! We know that children have appointments sometimes that cannot be avoided (such as the doctors or dentist). We suggest that you try and make sure that your adult at home books these for outside of school time. This will ensure that your amazing attendance is not affected by these things that we appreciate sometimes cannot be helped!

Why not mention this to your adult at home the next time you need an appointment?
