Online Safety
At Fairlands, we are committed to safeguarding our pupils in both the physical and digital worlds. In line with the latest KCSIE 2025 guidance and evolving best practice across UK education, our approach to online safety is proactive, inclusive, and responsive to emerging risks.
We recognise that the online environment presents both opportunities and challenges. Our curriculum and pastoral care systems are designed to help children navigate the digital world safely, critically, and respectfully. This includes:
- Teaching pupils to recognise and challenge harmful online content, including misinformation, disinformation, and conspiracy theories.
- Embedding the ‘4 Cs’ of online risk—Content, Contact, Conduct, and Commerce—into our safeguarding framework.
- Using robust filtering and monitoring systems, reviewed annually, to protect pupils from inappropriate material while promoting responsible digital behaviour.
- Equipping staff and governors with up-to-date training on digital safeguarding, cyber security, and the safe use of emerging technologies such as generative AI.
- Engaging parents and carers through clear communication and guidance on how online safety is taught and supported at school and at home.
We believe that online safety is a shared responsibility. By fostering digital resilience and encouraging open conversations, we aim to empower every child to thrive safely in a connected world.
