Fairlands Taekwondo club had their second official club grading test on Saturday, watched by some very supportive parents. Twelve students were promoted to yellow belt, one to green tag and one to green belt. The children put on an excellent display of fighting techniques and performed very tough memorised sequences of 20 movements. The green belt student also had to break a board with an elbow and a kick.
The next step on their journey is more fighting techniques using protective equipment to be able to practice them with each other and to learn another sequence of 20 movements for their next grading at the end of the year. Some students who weren't quite ready will be taking a test in a few weeks to catch-up, including more candidates for yellow belt and yellow tag.
Master Jeffries said, "Fairlands Taekwondo's technical standard is really progressing well. The students are all putting in full effort to learn some very difficult techniques, while understanding that this is a sport and martial art and not to be used outside of the training sessions. I'm sure we're all looking forward to seeing Team GB Taekwondo compete at the London 2012 Olympic Games in August."
