By Will Barnett, in PE News! - Thursday, 21 March 2024

In the heart of London, dreams were sparked as our talented girls football team embarked on an unforgettable journey to the prestigious Arsenal Youth Academy. Amongst the roaring cheers and palpable excitement, these budding football stars showcased their skills and unwavering determination in an under 11's football tournament. As the matches unfolded, each game became a testament to their dedication and teamwork. Though they faced formidable opposition, their determination remained unyielding finishing third in their group – an incredible achievement.

Amidst the thrilling matches, an unexpected surprise awaited the girls. They were granted the opportunity to catch a glimpse of footballing royalty—the Premier League trophy. The gleaming silver trophy stood as a symbol of excellence and served as a source of inspiration for our young athletes, fuelling their aspirations and reminding them of the heights they could reach with hard work and perseverance. But the excitement didn't end there. The girls were also treated to an extraordinary experience as they played games in 'The Dome,' a state-of-the-art facility within the Arsenal Youth Academy and a meeting with Arsenal legend Faye White – the longest serving female captain of England to date!

A huge thank you to Premier League Primary Stars, Luke Wilkins and Stevenage FC for the privilege of representing the club. The girls had an amazing time!

The Year 5 Netball team have done Fairlands very proud today in their very first netball match. We played an away game against St Nicholas school. The girls showed excellent sportsmanship and determination during the match, but came away with a loss in the end with the final result being 2-1 to St Nicholas. Most importantly we had lots of fun and all left with a smile on our faces. We can't wait to train more and are looking forward to our next match. Go Fairlands!
