Reaching high for the best for your child

Summertime Happiness!

Wednesday, 17 April 2024

This month, we will be talking about the value of Happiness!

We will be asking the children what makes them happy, and to think of ways to share happiness with others.

What's on your list of things which makes you happy? :0)

The Bug Hotel!

It has been a bug-tastic week in Nursery! The children visited the bug hotel in our outdoor area, and thought about what the mini-beasts living nearby might like in their home. They collected sticks, leaves, soil, pine-cones and grass to add to the mini-beast's habitat - not forgetting lots of minibeasts to introduce to their new and improved home! The children showed curiosity and kindness this week, well done Nursery!

Amazing Angles!

We had a wonderful morning drawing on the tables!

We were given tape to create as many challenging angles for our friends to measure as possible. We then moved around the room with our protractors labelling the angles as obtuse, acute, right or reflex. Some of us challenged ourselves to record the actual measurement of the angles and we watched a video to teach us exactly how to use a protractor.

STEM Discovery Centre

We had great fun on our STEM Discovery Centre trip. We took part in lots in exciting activities including making our own rockets and launching them outside, watching some cool magic tricks that were actually science and learning about the Mars rover.

Phenomenal Physical Education!

This half term, we are lucky enough to have Stevenage Borough FC coming in to run some of our PE sessions. During today's session, we warmed up by playing a modified version of stuck in the mud. Then, we practised our passing and shooting skills before playing some mini games of handball. We are loving the sessions so far and we cannot wait for next week!

ADHD and Autism support

The Toolbox from Mindler is a dedicated webpage specifically focussing on ADHD and Autism support for children and young people. The Toolbox offers inspirational content, workshops, self-help tools, interactive livestreams, anonymous text chat service (to ask any questions they may have about Neurodiversity) and lots of other resources and information. It also serves as a guide, signposting users to alternative services and accessible interventions within Hertfordshire.

Our Character Descriptions of James and the Giant Peach

We made character descriptions of the characters from James and the Giant Peach. The characters included James, Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker. We made sure we used expanded noun phrases to describe the characters and conjunctions to extend our sentences. We then took our time writing up our descriptions in our best handwriting. We have made a beautiful display in the upper school entrance if you would like to see it!
