For Your Information
The summer holidays will finally be here at 215pm on Tuesday 23rd July and hopefully the sun will make an extended appearance too!

There are lots of things available to families throughout the summer and we have displayed this information on the noticeboards in the alleyway between the main gates to both sites. We have listed activities to do, cheap or free places for children to eat and information about courses happening for families supporting children with additional needs. Don't forget to take a photo when you are collecting your child at the end of the day!

We are aware that the holidays are not always easy as normal routine and everyday life is suddenly changed (and that's for children too, not just us adults!). If you are finding it challenging, then please visit our website page which lists the support agencies available: Signposts to support home adults

We hope you all have an enjoyable break and can't wait to see you back on Wednesday 4th September for another exciting year ahead!

Learn about SEN services available to you

By Mrs Jeffries, in SEND SUPPORT - Wednesday, 20 September 2023

The Local Offer website lets parents, young people and professionals know what special educational needs and disabilities services are available in Hertfordshire, and who can access them. There is so much more than that, too.

There is a session on Thursday 28th September at 8pm where a friendly face from the Local Offer team will take you through what’s on the website and how you can use it to find the right services and support.

Kindness workshop with 52 lives

By Mental Health lead, in SEND SUPPORT - Tuesday, 19 September 2023

Today all pupils in year 1-6 took part in a brilliant virtual workshop on kindness with the wonderful charity '52 lives'.

We had an online Kindness Workshop from the charity 52 Lives (www.52-lives.org) and their School of Kindness! We learned that kindness has three qualities – being friendly, generous and considerate.  We learnt about the science of kindness and the positive impact it has on our physical and mental health. Next, we practised empathy by watching videos of kindness in action and then said kind things to each other in the classroom.  To put our kindness into action, we thought of someone we knew who could do with a little kindness. We then made them something in our classrooms and plan to give it to them this week.  Finally, we looked at the quote ‘be the change that you want to see in the world’ and decided that we can help to create the kind of world we want to live in.

The School of Kindness has a Kids’ Club which is free to join where you will get a free newsletter with kind challenges, stories, activities, jokes, competitions and videos to watch.  Just visit www.schoolofkindness.org/kids-club to sign up.

'The abilities in me' books

By Mrs Jeffries, in SEND SUPPORT - Tuesday, 19 September 2023

It was great to see so many of you at our SEN coffee session last week, we hope it was useful and look forward to seeing you at our next one. It will be happening on Friday 20th October and we have a representative from Angels. Angels is an experience-led charity, based in Hertfordshire, which provides individualised, professional expertise and advice supporting autistic children and their families. It will be a fantastic opportunity to get advice and ask those burning questions!

At the session, we looked at the excellent set of books written by local author, Gemma Keir. As promised, here is the link to look at the range of books she has produced and the Abilities in Me foundation she has created.

Happy reading!

A big thank you to all of the families and pupils who returned their 'Kindness' home learning.

It was so interesting and heart warming to read all of the thoughtful and considerate responses!

There were so many fabulous entries that need to be seen by others so they will soon be on display on the upper site.

Well done to our winners of the Kindness poem/chant competition....

Aylin and Adrianna!

We will be hearing your songs in school this week and they will remind us how we should be treating others!
