In our maths lesson this week we have been looking at perimeters. Did you know the perimeter is the length of the out side of a shape or area. We looked at rectangles and squares and calculated the perimeter by adding the length and width then mulitplied that answer by 2. For E.g. a rectangle with a width of 3cm and a length of 7cm = 3 + 7 = 10 then multiply by 2 for the other 2 sides. The answer is then 20cm! We then looked at rectangles or squares that look different but have the same perimeter. To help us we used straws to make the diagram before we calculated each perimeter.
