A Wonderful Christmas Celebration

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Thursday, 20 December 2007

Fairlands enjoyed its first ever Christmas Celebration on Thursday 20th December! Children from every Year Group performed songs on a Christmas theme, including 'The 12 Days of Christmas' and 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer'.

Mr Staples then read us a Christmas story - 'Russell's Christmas Magic', the story of the sheep who saved Christmas!

We then had a very special part of our Celebration - Year 6 made a Circle of Light by standing around the whole school in a large circle, each holding a candle. It was a really magical moment, and helped us remember the light that family, friends and loved ones bring into our lives.

Voices Like Angels!

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Monday, 17 December 2007

Children in Key Stage 2 brought a touch of Christmas magic to Holy Trinity Church on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th December. The children performed Christmas songs and gave readings which told the story of the nativity and reminded us all of the true meaning of Christmas.

Reverend Geoff Tickner shared a special Christmas message - we also learned how the Robin got his red chest and how the holly tree got its berries!

The children really enjoyed themselves - Billy Smith (Year 5) said, 'I loved the stained glass windows - the atmosphere was brilliant!'.

Food, Glorious Food!

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Friday, 14 December 2007

The whole school enjoyed a lovely Christmas Dinner on Friday 14th December! We had lots of fun - crackers, songs and our amazing party hats looked brilliant!

Thank you to cook and her staff for making such a tasty meal and thank you to Miss Franklin and all the dinner ladies for getting it all organised!

A Fantastic Christmas Show At Fairlands!

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Wednesday, 12 December 2007

Parents, friends and families have been enjoying a wonderful treat as Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 performed the Christmas Story 'Are We Nearly There Yet?'.

The story followed five modern day children as they journey back to Bethlehem to discover what the Christmas story is really all about.

We were treated with angels, kings, tiny stars and arabian dancers - and of course, Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus. Even Santa Claus turned up!

The children have worked SO hard to learn all the songs, all their lines and get their costumes ready (with a little bit of help from parents!). The three performances have all been brilliant - well done, children!

Fairlands In The Jungle!

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Wednesday, 12 December 2007

The school was treated to a special Christmas performance on Wednesday 12th December, when The Flying Pizza Company came to perform 'The Jungle Book' for KS1 & 2.

We had a lot of fun meeting all the different characters, even when they were running all around the hall and hiding behind Mrs Hunt!
