We went to the library!
We walked out of school and through the town to the library. We looked at some pictures of what we would find along out way. We spotted Aldi, the silver sphere, Noodle stop, primark and a cafe.
When we got there we had to be really quiet! We sat down and listened to a story from the librarian. It was a story about a disgusting sandwich. We then learnt all about the library. The librarian told us you can join the library for FREE, you can borrow up to 30 books at a time and you can even get your own library card with your name on it.
We then had some time exploring the library and all the amazing books they have.
We then had a long walk back, but luckily, the rain stopped until we got back !
This week we visited our school cooks!
We learnt that there are seven cooks.
They cook over 600 meals a day.
They have four ovens.
& our favourite... on a Friday, they cook 500 sausages!
We discussed foods that were healthy and unhealthy and even made our own fruit kebabs. Some of us tried new fruits, they were delicious!
Last week we had a very visitor. We had our local lollipop lady come and visit us in school.
Our topic this half-term is people who help us, so Mrs Poole-Tabener told us how she helps people cross the road before and after school.
She wore her special yellow uniform and told us that she wears her uniform to keep her safe and so that cars can see her if it is dark. She told us how to keep safe when crossing roads and we practised crossing the road safely!
If you see Mrs Poole-Tabener on Sish Lane, at the crossing, don't forget to say hello!
This term we have really enjoyed our topic, All About Me. We have learnt about our senses, how to make a skeleton, who's in our families and different celebrations. We have really enjoyed this topic and we are excited to continue it for a few more weeks. We are going to create different self portraits next week and then we will use our baby photos to learn about the past and how we have changed.
In phonics this week we have learnt 3 diagraphs, ss, ff, ll, and the new phoneme j. We have also started reading practise and we are super excited to take our first books home this weekend. We have been working hard practising our blending skills.
In independent time this week, Ted, Finley and Hugo made a huge aeroplane in the construction area. It even had 3 seats and two wings. Meanwhile, Oscar, Isla and Musa had some calm time in the wheelbarrow!
Well done Beech Class! Another fantastic week. Have a wonderful weekend :)

We have had so much fun in Reception this half term. We have loved exploring the reception environment and meeting all our new teachers.
we have especially enjoyed using the rollercoaster, playing with the dinosaurs and getting muddy!
The wet weather fills up our mud pit and we have loved splashing, jumping and sliding!
Hello, Beech Class! What a wonderful start to Reception you have all made! We have been very busy learning about the different areas in our environment and how to use them. We have also started phonics! The children have learnt the new sounds s, a, t! Great work Beech class.
Everyone in the class has made new friends, shown kindness to each other and been very brave.

WOW what an amazing dinosaur day we had!
Beech class started the day greeted by some very large dinosaurs! 2 velicraptors and pterodactyl and a triceratops!
Then Beech class started their first activity with Mrs Kirby. They made dinosaur poo! Beech class had to work together as a team and use their Design and Technology skills to carefully melt chocolate and mix it together with rice crispies and raisins. I hope they were yummy!
Next Beech class visited Miss Free. For their activity beech class had to carefully follow instructions and use their fine motor skills to make dinosaur play doh. Beech class also had to use their maths skills to measure the different amounts.
Finally, Beech class made their way back to Miss Weston to make dinosaur fossils. We learnt about the history of fossils and how they were formed. Beech class then had to squish the clay into a circle shape and then carefully press their dinosaur into the clay. Beech class worked really hard.
we finished the day with a dinosaur disco and then our parents came in to look at our beautiful hand made projects! Miss Weston, Miss Dela and Mrs Kandola were all very impressed with the projects this term. Well done beech class! Have a wonderful half term break.
