What an exciting time we have had at Wildchild Woods! We have quite literally taken it by storm and done amazingly well in all our activities. From abseiling, to rock climbing, tent building, minibeast exploring and lots of other fun activities, we have made sure we all tried our very best. We have certainly built on our team building, independence and resilience while being away and the teachers are all very proud of us. Now it's time for a big rest at home as I'm sure we will have lots of tired children.
Today Year 4 children had a Kandinsky art workshop. They created concentric circles of their own using crayons and watercolours. They also experimented with shapes and lines to create a piece of abstract art.
Those of us not at Wildchild have also spent the last two days enjoying outdoor learning. On Wednesday we explored the school pond and created nature art. We ended the day by working together to create a piece of Andy Goldsworthy inspired art on the school field. Today we spent the day at Fairlands Valley Park. We learnt how to use a map and compass to navigate and found points of reference to help us reach certain places around Fairlands Valley. After a short play in the park and our yummy picnics, we then enjoyed a variety of sports before heading back to school. Can you guess who is under the parachute?
After a very early start this morning and unscathed by the thunder storm, we learned how to identify different trees and insects. We found Holly, Hazel, Oak and Beech trees but we couldn't find any Larch, Laburnum or Lime trees. Since we are all experts, we will continue our search back at Fairlands. To continue with our identification skills we used an insect pooter to catch bugs. Our teachers sucked up the bugs into a pooter so we could identify them. Another great day.
Day 1 at wildchild. Abseiling, rock climbing and games galore. We were brave and faced our fears. Many of us took the leap off of the faith.
We have arrived safely and happily at Wildchild. We are ready to get started with our jam packed few days of activities. Half of us have gone off to do some Bushcraft activities and the other half have gone off to do some Climbing. We are very excited to be spending a few days camping with our friends!
Our topic this term is Rainforests! We have been learning all about the different layers of the rainforests and this week we have used iPads to find out which animals live in the different layers and why. We all had our own layer to research in our groups and then we put it all together to make a wonderful display outside our classroom.
Lime class have been enjoying learning how to play the Violins for the past three weeks. We have learnt how to hold the Violin and what the different notes are called. We have really improved already since our first session and are having a lots fun!
