Reaching high for the best for your child

During November, we will be thinking about the value of Tolerance, which links brilliantly to our Jigsaw theme - Celebrating Difference.

We will talk about how important it is that everyone feels welcome and valued in our school, and that sometimes, we need to agree to disagree.

Each term, we agree a focus for whole school improvement which everyone at Fairlands works together on. This term, we are focusing on Teaching Reading. 

All of the staff have been set a challenge to help improve reading across the school, and we would like parents and carers to join in with us. 

Please take some time to:

- look at our Reading Curriculum and check what your child is expected to do by the end of each year group

- look at our new Home Learning Information Booklet 

- MOST IMPORTANTLY... support your child by making time to 'CHAT, PLAY, READ' at home, every day... it really is that simple!

Thank you to everybody who brought in the mountain of goodies for our Harvest Assembly today! Once they had made up the food parcels, Mrs Biggs and Mrs Ansell braved the rain with our school councillors and delivered the food to our neighbours in the local community, where it was gratefully received!

In September, we have been looking at the value of RESPONSIBILITY and thinking about all the things we are responsible for. We have talked about being responsible for looking after things, like our pets or our toys. We have also talked about owning up when we are responsible for something going wrong.

In October, we will consider the linked value of RIGHTS. We will talk about important human rights, such as the right to safety, shelter and food. We will explore the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child, Article 42, which talks about the right to education, fair treatment and the right to give your opinion.

Well, here we are at the end of another fantastic year!

Thank you to all the staff for their exceptional commitment and hard work, which make this school the wonderful place it is. 

Good luck to Year 6 as they move on to an exciting future at secondary school - Faridah wrote us this lovely poem to remind us that we will ALWAYS be... FAIRLANDS!

We would like to say an enormous thank you to all our parents and carers for the wonderful contribution that has been made this year through fundraising, including an amazing £4973 at our recent summer fete.

In total, across all the events we held over the year, we have managed to raise a total of nearly £10,000, which we will be spending on our agreed focus this year - to purchase additional computing equipment. 

This is a fantastic total, and the new computing equipment will really help us to deliver an exciting curriculum across all subjects. 

We also want to say a SPECIAL THANK YOU to all of our Friends of Fairlands helpers who have worked so hard to make our fundraising events such a success!
