Our recent survey asked:
The results are now in!
So I am pleased to tell you that we will be looking to develop the LIGHTING, AUDIO AND VISUALS FOR THE STAGE!
This is a lovely idea and something from which the whole school will benefit. I will keep you posted about developments. With you continued support, we will be able to focus on the other projects in future years.
Our value for May is Resilience! We will be learning how to pick ourselves up when we take a knock and how important it is to keep a positive mindset. Help your child at home by learning the 'What YOU Do Song' - it's not about what happens in life, it's about how we react to it and What WE Do!
On Wednesday, we will be supporting World Autism Awareness Day. The theme is ‘Light it up blue’ and we would like to invite all children to bring in a donation of £1 and wear non-school uniform. In keeping with the theme, we would like them to wear anything blue! They could be head to toe in blue or simply wear a blue hairband or blue socks. All money raised will be donated to Tracks. Tracks is a charity funded preschool in Stevenage for children with communication difficulties.
Representatives from the Fairlands Choir had an amazing opportunity to perform with other schools at the biennial Hertfordshire Music Gala on Sunday!
This was the first time that Fairlands has participated in the Gala and it was an awe-inspiring experience for the children. They behaved immaculately and were really excited to perform alongside Gabs Gardiner - we were so proud of them! Please take a look at the Blog and at the photos in the Galleries section. And below is a video of the rehearsal for the final reprise of Coldplay's 'Viva La Vida'!
Our friends in Malaysia and China are very sad at the moment, because one of their planes has gone missing in the sea.
As 80 aircraft and ships from 10 nations scour for evidence of the missing jet in the South China Sea off of Malaysia, www.tomnod.com has launched an effort to crowdsource the search, asking the public for help to scan and tag high-resolution images for any sign of the missing airliner.
“For people who aren’t able to drive a boat through the Pacific Ocean, this is a way that they can contribute and try to help out,” they said.
All you need to do is go to www.tomnod.com and you will see live pictures of the sea. If you find anything suspicious, such as an oil slick, a life raft, or even airplane wreckage - you just tag it and this will send a message to help the search teams.
It's really easy to do and if everyone at Fairlands does a little bit, we will make a big difference! Let your teachers know if you find anything interesting...
Our Value for the month of March is Friendship... What is a Friend? How can we be better friends to each other?
We started our thinking this week in assembly on Monday. Mrs Lyme told us all about how kind Year 5 & 6 have just been, donating gifts to children in a school in Ghana. Mrs Lyme was able to take the parcels out when she visited the school a few weeks ago. The children really appreciated this act of friendship from Fairlands, and are looking forward to exchanging letters with Years 5 & 6 in the future. Friends can be found all around the world!
