Welcome Back!

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Saturday, 5 September 2009

Welcome back to Fairlands! The new school year has started very smoothly and the children seem to have settled in to their new classes amazingly well. It's like we have never been away!

I would like to start the term by thanking all the teachers for their hard work over the summer - it takes a tremendous amount of effort to get everything ready for the children and their committment is, of course, highly appreciated.

Many parents have commented on how smart the new perimeter fencing looks! When it is finished, it will certainly make the school more safe and secure. We will also be able to remove all the old blue fencing, which will mean that the children have more usable space to play in.

Our SEAL theme this term is 'New Beginnings' - time to think about making a fresh start and the feelings that come with experiencing things for the first time. We will be focusing on this in assembly and the children will follow up this work back in their classrooms.

Thank You, Ladies!

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Tuesday, 23 June 2009

The Friends Of Fairlands Committee would like to say a huge thank you to all of those who attended our first Ladies Pamper Evening, on June 12th.

It was a great success and raised £345! The Friends would like to thank particularly Kelly Barkley, who always attends all our events. Without support from parents like Kelly we would not be able to raise funds for equipment and learning materials for all our children.

Look out for future events such as The Family Fun Day on the 5th July and also the very popular Quiz Night in September. The friends also hope to hold another Pamper night nearer Christmas!

Come Dine With The Headteacher!

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Monday, 27 April 2009

We take a huge amount of pride in our school dinners and would love you to consider signing your child up for them. The latest Menu for Summer 2009 can be downloaded here, and you will see it is packed with good nutritious choices that your child will love.

This term, if your child does not currently have school dinners, they might receive a very special golden invitation to have School Dinner at the Headteacher's Table! Mr Staples will be personally inviting children to come and have a school dinner with him in his Office. It will be very posh, with proper cutlery, napkins and candlesticks and full black-tie waiter service!

Make sure you sign up if you are lucky enough to be invited!

Anyone For Pizza?

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Tuesday, 31 March 2009

On Tuesday, two children from Fairlands had a very special treat when they were invited to attend the Grand Reopening of Pizza Hut at the Roaring Meg, following its recent refurbishment.

The children were chosen to have the special treat because they always show excellent behaviour and remember the School Rules. They got the chance to go behind the scenes in the restaurant and make their own pizza! They also had the honour of meeting the Mayor of Stevenage and the Chief Executive of Pizza Hut UK, before being allowed to eat as much pizza and salad as they liked!! Jay said, 'It was like being in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, only BETTER!'.
