A Place To Read World Book Day 2009

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Wednesday, 25 February 2009

We have a busy week coming up next week, with World Maths Day followed immediately by WORLD BOOK DAY on Thursday 5th March!

Our theme for World Book Day this year is 'A Place To Read', and each class will be working on a project to develop a special reading corner/space in their classroom. The classes will have a budget of £20 each to create this space and the best reading area will win £50 of books for the class library!

In addition, we have asked the children to bring in photos of themselves reading in different locations - on the beach, in their bed, or in other weird and wonderful places. Please help your child to bring in at least one photo for our school display.

World Maths Day Challenge!

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Wednesday, 11 February 2009

World Maths Day

World Maths Day falls on 4th March this year and we have an exciting day of Maths Events lined up. To get ready for this, all the children in the school have received a login card so that they can go online to www.worldmathsday.com and play against other children around the world in mental arithmetic games. Each game lasts for 60 seconds and you can play as many games as you like!

Over the half term break, please have a go and see if you can beat someone from across the world!! Why not have a go at our own MOON MATHS GAME in the Learning Zone as well? Or go to our MATHS PAGE to find more great Maths Activities & Games!

Ofsted LogoOn Monday, we will be sending home our annual Parent Survey. This is a really important source of information for us, so please make sure that you complete the survey and hand in in, through your child, before 13th February.

You can download a copy of the survey here.

We will give you feedback on the outcomes of the survey after the half term break.

Don't forget you can always drop us an email to let us know about something - or feel free to make an appointment through the school office to see the relevant member of staff.

Do You Know Your Targets?

By Robert Staples, Headteacher - Monday, 19 January 2009

Every half term, the whole school brushes up one aspect of Reading, Writing and Maths, with the aim of getting every child up to the right level for their age in this focus area. Please support your child at home, using the ideas on the Reaching High Target Flyers that we send out. Stick them on your fridge & ask your child one question a day for each target!
