This week's Science learning consisted of lots of cutting and threading to create tendons and bones to show how our hands work!

This afternoon Hornbeam class brushed off their knowledge of the continents and oceans of the world!
We used globes and atlases to help us label a map of the world.
This song was particularly helpful to complete this task
In our science lesson today, the children of Hazel class followed instructions to make a model to help them understand and describe how muscles work. First, they had to cut out diagrams of the humerus, radius and ulna, which are the bones found in the arm. Then, they had to connect them using a split pin and connect the muscle using an elastic band. Hazel class found out that when the bicep contracts the triceps relax and when the triceps contract the biceps relax. They also found out that skeletal muscles work in pairs and allow our bodies to move.
Please see below this week's spellings to learn. Little Wandle groups are included below. Thank you in advance for supporting your child learn these spellings.

Today Holly Class went cloud watching inspired by our new guided reading text 'The Night Gardener' by Terry and Eric Fan.
We gazed up at the sky and used our imagination to spot pictures in the clouds. We drew them in our books and shared our observations. So many of us spotted the same things!
Some of the things we drew were: dragons, aeroplanes and spiders!
Why not try at home in your garden or at the park?
Hello year 3,
Well done for a fantastic first half of the Autumn term. We would like to keep you a little busy over the half-term break, and going into the new term with a project. You have set the standards incredibly high with your Egyptian projects, so we are so excited to see what you create for our new topic 'Creation'
We will be looking at lots of different creation stories over the next few weeks, which will give you lots of ideas for when it is your turn to write a creation story.
With this in mind, we would like you to create a mythical creature. This could be out of recycled materials, lego, or a piece of art. If you're feeling really adventurous, you could create a setting for your mythical creature to live in.
We will be looking at how many Year 3 spellings you can include in your story, so why not have a practise at home over the half term?
Have a good break and we will see you back at school on Halloween!
Hazel class have had a very busy Egyptian Wow day, food tasting, clay pyramids and making Canopic jars. There was definitely something for everyone to enjoy! A big well done to parents and carers who also helped the children have a fantastic day by providing Egyptian costumes to get them into role. Thank you.
We were blown away by the effort the children (and their carers) had made with their Egyptian costumes today.
We spent the day scultping pyramids from clay, creating canopic jars from paper mache, enjoying and Egyptian Banquet and ended it with a sing song and 'moved like an Egyptian' within dance!
What a way to end our topic!
